i-escape Introduces: Summer on Tresco
i-escape co-founders Nikki and Aidan spend their lives sharing their curated collection of boutique hotels and luxury villas, but Tresco holds a special place in their hearts. With rare availability in a handful of our family-friendly cottages this July and August, you can experience the island's unique beauty for yourself…
There is nothing quite like summer on Tresco; it’s quite easy to forget you’re still in the UK – let alone just 30 miles from the Cornish coast. You’re surrounded by scenery that doesn’t seem to be of this country and beaches that are deserted in the middle of August.
Days are framed by epic sunrises and sunsets; in between, time is spent clear-water kayaking to neighbouring islands, meandering through subtropical gardens, or sipping cocktails on the Ruin terrace as the children play on the beach below.
It’s having plenty to do, in a nothing-to-do kind of way. It's a place for quality time together, balanced with moments of solitude. It’s summer somewhere else altogether…
Nikki and Aidan say...
The story goes that if you visit the Isles of Scilly once, you’ll keep on returning. And so it was for us: having first visited Tresco in 2009, we’ve been back every year since to stay in one of their stylish beachfront cottages.
There are long, deserted, white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, tropical gardens and no cars. Everyone cycles or walks, so the pace of life is wonderfully slow, and you really feel as if you’ve gone back in time.
But there is also a top-notch deli, restaurant, cosy pub, and a fabulous spa for rainy days. For us, suppers of freshly caught lobster and family picnics on Blockhouse Beach are hard to beat.

Sunfish - 16th July & 27th August 2024
Sunfish offers panoramic sea views of Round Island lighthouse and the uninhabited islands. Retire to the sunroom and watch changing Scilly skies, or throw open the patio doors to a raised terrace and lawn, with sweeping vistas out to the horizon beyond.
Dolphin Cottage - 10th July 2024
Delightful Dolphin Cottage is located in the heart of the island, just a couple of minutes’ walk from each coast. This little chocolate box cottage has cosy interiors and a traditional feel, while its vast, sheltered garden is perfect for relaxing sun-dappled afternoons.
Blockhouse - 24th August 2024
Nestled above the silver sands of Green Porth, Blockhouse Cottage is our newest property, flaunting unbeatable ocean views and indulgent inside-outside living. This is the ultimate island escape, with its own KLAFS-designed spa, private yoga and Pilates studio, separate annexe, and spacious private garden that leads directly through the dunes to the beach below.
Townshill - 11th July 2024
Encircled by gardens and perched on a hillside overlooking the harbour, Townshill’s spacious rooms provide a relaxing base for a family escape. There’s a cook’s kitchen, a spacious sitting room, and a cosy snug for the little ones to have space to themselves. Of the three bedrooms, the triple-aspect master bedroom might just be our favourite spot.
Flora - 22nd July 2024
Live life according to the tide at Flora, one of our beachfront Flying Boat cottages. The open-plan living space opens right onto epic coastal views with a seafront terrace and steps down to the beach, while upstairs the master bedroom enjoys the same effect with a balcony overlooking the sea.
Flotsam - 12th August 2024
Sitting a stone’s throw from Old Grimsby’s idyllic shoreline, Flotsam offers stunning sea views and three double or twin bedrooms - the perfect family escape. Outdoors, the patio space is bordered with greenery and blooms. Recline on the loungers or fire up the barbecue, all while soaking up the views.
