The Flying Boat
Indulgent brunches, leisurely lunches, sumptuous suppers. Relax with a coffee in the walled garden or enjoy a cocktail in the quirky, boat-shaped terrace while watching an island sunset.
With epic views of the Tresco channel and its spellbinding tidal cycle, the Flying Boat is an inviting spot to savour the moment.
A tempting breakfast menu is served until late morning – ideal for serial brunchers or coastal explorers planning a day of discovery. For something a little lighter, stop off for coffee and pastry and enjoy the view from full width picture windows framing the alluring marine scene.
The kitchen team source the finest local produce to add fanciful flavours to the menu. Fresh seafood is the overarching theme, from classic dishes like half Bryher lobster and catch of the day, to intriguing twists such as monkfish bao buns and squid & prawn tacos. A bespoke vegan menu is also available, and main menus feature a selection of vegetarian dishes, plus decadent desserts ready to lead you astray.
Aside from prolonged garden lunches and celebratory suppers, share a toast to Tresco with a champagne cream tea on a summer’s afternoon. Or ease your way into the evening with a cocktail – all inspired by, and featuring fresh botanicals from, our world-famous Abbey Garden.
The Flying Boat is built on the site of a former WW2 Seaplane base – planes would launch from the concrete slipway just below. The walls are adorned with established works of art from Cornish greats such as Alfred Wallis and Dame Laura Knight, and the evocative sea view is complemented by ‘Sail’, a bronze sculpture by Tom Leaper.
