Terms & Conditions of Hire

Pre-ordering bicycles & additional items does not guarantee that stocks will be available; this form is a request only. Advanced booking is not possible for day visitors to Tresco.

Bicycles will be charged from the start of the reservation period. The hirer is responsible for the safe return of the bicycle to the Bike Shed at the end of the rental period. Failure to return the bicycle may result in additional hire charges being levied.

All bicycles are ridden at your own risk. The hirer is at all times personally liable for any accident that they may cause or damage to people or property. Helmets are available free of charge from the Hire Shed and we strongly recommend they are worn. Please ensure that all members of your party know how to use the brakes correctly. Always keep to the left. Please be aware that pedestrians always have right of way. Cyclists should be aware of transport vehicles and should dismount to let them pass. 

No bicycle may be taken off the Island, or onto any of the beaches. In the interests of ecology, it is not permitted to cycle on the heathlands to the north of the Quay Shop at New Grimsby or past Gimble Porth beyond the Sea Garden Cottages.

Bicycles may only be used during daylight hours. Nametags should always remain on the bike. This helps both you and us to identify the correct bikes. We recommend the use of bicycle locks, which are available at the bike shed.

We reserve the right to repossess any bicycle, at any time during the hire period, if these conditions are not adhered to. We reserve the right to charge for repair, including punctures, in cases of misuse
