Entertainment & Eating Out

Tresco has one pub called the New Inn that is also a small hotel, with excellent bar snacks and restaurant. It is open all year.  There are occassional live music nights, quizes, they have a big screen and show major sporting events.

The Island Hotel is open for lunch and evening meals (booking in the evening is essential)
 
On Bryher,  there is Hell Bay for daytime snacks and restaurant evening meals, Vine Café which is a small restaurant that offers light snacks, teas and coffee.  It is open daily from around 10am till 4.30pm and Fraggle Rock a café/bar

Leisure Pursuits

The Islands have much to offer for those who like walking, bird watching, water pursuits, and general outdoor activities.

Boats can be hired through our concession with Blue Boats and sailing lessons are available if pre-booked. Telephone number for Blue Boats is 423095.  There is also a sailing and windsurfing school on Tresco in the summer holidays.

Inter-Island Boats

There are regualr scheduled boats between all the inhabited islands, operated by Bryher Boat Services, they run advertised trips but can also be chartered for 'special' trips.  There are boat trips to other islands, and also trips to see the birds and seals.  These will be advertised on the boat boards each day.

Activities

Tresco has badminton, football and cricket teams and there are inter-island matches.  Gig racing for both men and women is very popular throughout the summer months.  There are four swimming pools on Tresco, one at the Hell Bay, and two tennis courts.  During the summer, water sport activities include windsurfing, canoeing and sailing.  Scuba Diving is also available on St Martins and St Marys.

The Estate has tents and sleeping bags for staff to borrow and explore the other islands on days off.

The Hell Bay Hotel has a small pitch and putt course, boules and croquet, a swimming pool and recreation room.  Staff can use these facilities, however priority is always be given to guests and visitors. 

Tennis

The Estate also has two tennis courts, one near the Estate Office, and one at the Island Hotel. Staff may take out an annual subscription that will allow use at any time of the day providing it is pre-booked.
Racquets and tennis balls may be hired from the Estate Office and Island Hotel during opening hours.

Swimming Pools

Tresco has 4 swimming pools available for the use of guests.  These are sited at the Island Hotel, New Inn and two near the Estate Offices.  Staff may use a designated pool subject to certain restrictions. Each pool area has specific regulations regarding access hours and use.

Abbey Garden

Entrance to the Abbey Garden is available free of charge to all Tresco Estate  staff  and residents of  Tresco.  The gardens are open between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm. 

Community Centre

Bryher has a Community Centre where you can play Table Tennis, Pool and Snooker.

Tresco community centre organize advertised events eg. Badminton club.
