Chief Financial Officer

Tresco Island Limited is looking for an experienced Head of Finance/CFO to oversee all financial aspects of the business and drive the company’s financial strategy and planning.

You will be responsible for all financial activities of the business and help to shape and implement the future strategic vision of the company.

The Chief Financial Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be integral to the family Board.

Tresco Island Limited manages the island of Tresco and the Hell Bay Hotel on behalf of the Dorrien-Smith family.

Tresco is a small, family-owned island approximately 28 miles off the Cornish coast in the Isles of Scilly archipelago. The island features about 100 luxurious timeshare and rental cottages, two restaurants, an inn, the world-renowned Abbey Garden, a gallery, a leisure spa, a shop, and a working farm. It is also home to a community of around 100 islanders, a school, and a Church.

The award-winning Hell Bay Hotel on the neighbouring island of Bryher offers 25 bespoke suites, a 3 AA Rosette restaurant, the Crab Shack, spa treatment facilities, a yoga studio, and an outdoor pool.

As Head of Finance, you will be a reliable professional with broad knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles.

You will bring strategic vision and an eye for detail and be an effective leader who can guide the business to profitable decisions.

You will be comfortable as a hands-on leader of a small team, as well as reporting to and advising the CEO, the Board and the family on all financial matters.

We are looking for -

• Proven experience as a financial leader or similar role.
• A qualified accountant or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Demonstrable knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
• Proficiency in MS Office and financial management software.
• An analytical mind with a strategic ability.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Develop and maintain effective systems, controls, procedures and processes to improve business efficiency.
• Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance regularly for management and the Board.
• Lead the production of annual accounts for audit and tax compliance.
• Drive the financial planning of the company by analysing its performance and risks.
• Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial and cash position and act to prevent problems.
• Lead the budgeting process for the business.
• Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel.
• Maintain relationships with the Bank and other external third parties, including HMRC, VAT, tax advisors and auditors.
• Conduct analysis to make forecasts for the CEO/Board.
• Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines.
• Provide regular reports on the evaluation of risks faced by the business.
• Act as the lead on business insurance.
