Plumber (Temporary)
We’re looking for a qualified & enthusiastic plumber to join our services team in a temporary role to cover a period of absence.
Department: Tresco Island Services
Salary: From £13.70 per hour, dependent on experience
Hours: Full Time (40-48 hours per week) & On Call 1 week in 5
Contract Length: Temporary - approximately 3-6 months
Duties Include
As part of the Island Services team, you will be responsible for carrying out a regular maintenance program for all Estate properties and equipment, in line with manufacturers’ guidelines and current legislation. You’ll be able to use problem-solving skills to repair and maintain plumbing equipment and installations across all commercial outlets and residential properties, as well as assisting with updating any functions in line with technological improvements.
Responsibilities will include doing water and sewage checks, occasionally ordering parts and equipment (under supervisor from the Services Manager), in line with budget and procurement policies, as well as being actively involved in the improvement of installation quality and reduction of running costs.
You’ll be able to communicate effectively with the team and the Services Manager, identifying and mitigating risk, and ensuring full compliance with administrative procedures, record keeping, and Health and Safety policies and legislation.
This role will require the candidate to be on call for one week in four (including weekends)
Our Ideal Candidate
- Must have a full, clean driving licence (essential)
- Time served apprenticeship – 3 years’ minimum experience (essential)
- Unvented Hot Water Cylinder Certification
- Proven successful delivery of projects and installations
- Working knowledge of legislation and best practice
- Ability to price and order for projects well in advance
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually
- Ability to adapt to changing demands
- Blue Card holder (desirable)
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a strong financial and commercial awareness
