Island Plumber
We’re looking for a qualified & enthusiastic plumber to join our services team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our island plumbing, water & sewage systems. The successful candidate must also work well as part of a team to solve any other general maintenance issues that may arise.

Duties Include
- Carrying out a regular maintenance program for all Island properties and equipment, in line with manufacturers’ guidelines and current legislation
- Using plumbing problem-solving skills to repair and maintain plumbing equipment and installations across the commercial outlets and residential properties of Tresco Island
- Ordering parts and equipment as required in compliance with Island budget and procurement policy under the supervision of the Island Plumber
- Ensuring all administrative procedures and record keeping are accurately followed and in compliance with Tresco island policy
- To be actively involved in the improvement of quality of installations and reduction in their running costs
- Be on call for 1 week in 4 (including weekends) but available at all times if there is a plumbing or water emergency. This includes mains water and sewage checks
- Assist with updating any functions in line with technological improvements
- Keep line manager informed of all commercial and operational events of importance to the Island
- Be aware of and compliant with health and safety within the workshop and office environment. Ensuring all appropriate PPE is used
- Assisting other service members on larger projects outside of water services
- Responsible for decision making on all plumbing and water matters within own work area, ensure a range of options are explored and that risks and resource implications are taken full account of
- Identifying and mitigating risk in a compliance environment
Our Ideal Candidate
- Time served apprenticeship (3 years experience)
- Unvented Hot Water Cylinder Certification
- Proven successful delivery of projects and installations
- Working knowledge of legislation and best practice
- Ability to price and order for projects well in advance as no ready access to supplies
- Enjoys working as part of a team but can also work alone
- Willing to do other services activities if required
- Driving licence
- Blue Card holder
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a strong financial and commercial awareness
- Be responsible and able to work unsupervised as well as part of a close team
