The Role
Tresco Heliport is predominantly engaged in handling the scheduled passenger service that operates between Penzance and Tresco, Isles of Scilly.
You will be part of a team providing first-class customer service, including checking in passengers, handling luggage (up to 20kg), and assisting with embarkation and disembarkation from the aircraft. As the first and last point of contact with our guests, you will take pride in your appearance, maintaining your uniform and PPE to a high standard. An essential part of the role will be to build and maintain effective relationships with staff and guests, both new and returning, in order to continue the consistent high standards of service across the island.
Handling of vehicles will be required, including fire vehicles, a tractor and trailer, and a 10-seater electric bus. Vehicles and fire appliances will need to be inspected daily to ensure there are no defects, and liaising with our Engineering department if needed.
Emergency procedures must be adhered to at all times and the role will include active involvement in regular training to maintain high standards of firefighting competency. The safe operation of the heliport will be ensured through identifying and mitigating any risks, staying accountable for your actions and being compliant with all current regulations.
You will be required to be a competent, fully trained firefighter, in line with CAA Category H2 airfield standards. Full training will be provided.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Full, clean driving licence (essential)
- Must have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Work well as part of a team
- Must be confident driving large vehicles
- Must have a high standard of fitness (a medical assessment is required)
- Fire Service Experience is desirable, although full training can be provided
- Experience of Aerodrome Health and Safety is desirable, although full training can be provided
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance advantageous
- First Aid Certificate advantageous
- Be flexible, with a can-do attitude, as the role will sometimes require working subject to weather changes and delays
