Green

This is a cottage for simple, sandy-footed island days. Cross the lane and follow the echium-lined path through the dunes to Green Porth, where white sand stretches towards Blockhouse Castle and watery channels ripple across the beach at low tide. Morning swims, shell-hunting, beach picnics and slow wanders along the shore all feel wonderfully close.

Inside, Green is warm, homely and full of cottage character. Low ceilings, an exposed granite wall and a coal fire give the living space an unmistakably cosy feel - the kind of room made for curling into the corner sofa after a breezy walk, a swim in the sea or supper at The Ruin Beach Café.

The cottage sleeps six, with a bunk room downstairs that works especially well for younger guests, and two further bedrooms upstairs. Zip-linked beds in the master and second bedroom can be arranged as superking or twin by prior request, giving the cottage useful flexibility for families or friends.

Outside, the lawned garden is a quiet little haven, enclosed by hedgerows and sprinkled with colour through the warmer months. It is a lovely place for barbecues, children playing on the grass, or simply sitting back in the afternoon sun after time on the beach.

Cosy, characterful and beautifully placed, Green is a charming Old Grimsby cottage for those who want one of Tresco’s loveliest beaches just across the road, and the Ruin Beach Café, Sailing School and indoor pool all close at hand.

The leafy walk towards St. Nicholas church – intertwined tree branches enclose the walkway in a peaceful green patchwork.
