Fete fun in the sun
Tresco Fete was a roaring success this year with a brilliant turn out, fab music and loads of fun in the sun.. and the rain!
On Sunday 20th July, the Community Centre held another fantastic fete. Organised by our lovely local committee - and led by Duffy - it was a brilliant celebration of our island talent and classic British summertime activities. Despite a couple of showers, the show went on - a bit of rain could never stop a fete!
There was delicious food courtesy of our BBQ-ers, Ruin Head Chef Jess, and our team of cake bakers, and there was something for everyone in the way of stalls. With the makers on hand selling their wares, the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust, lucky dip, splat the rat, hook a puffin, guess the weight of the Bryher bake box cake and how many hazelnuts are in the jar, it was lovely to see everyone getting involved - locals and guests alike and both the young and the old... In fact, when it came to guessing the weight of the cake, on many occasions the whole family got involved!
One particular highlight was Tresco magician Sean showing off his incredible skills! What's more, we have to mention the music! Ed took the stage to get the party started with some much loved acoustic tunes and then Bitta Dutch performed a brilliant set that got everyone on their feet!
Finally, we would like to mention an incredible prize donated to us by some very generous guests. Four tickets to a London west end show and three nights in a South Kensington home were the amazing prize of the Tresco treasure map! £10 a ticket and all in aid of the Scillonian Bee Project. It is still in the Island Office if you would like to be in with a chance of winning that grand prize...
Thank you to everyone who came along - it was such a success and raised around £6500! We shall see you next year for another brilliant day on Tresco.
