Taste of Scilly: Beehive Tour & Taster
Island beekeeper Jilly Halliday introduces you to the nectar-rich gardens home to our island bee colonies
Wednesday 20th September 2023
11am start; booking essential |
Tresco Abbey Garden is unique, home to plants from more than 80 countries- Brazil to New Zealand, Burma to South Africa. Nowhere else in the world brings together such a plethora of species in a single outdoor location. As such, the forage enjoyed by our island bees is inimitable, resulting in honey that literally distils a whole world of flavours.
Meet Beekeeper Jilly Halliday on Wednesday, 20th September, and explore the nectar-rich garden as she highlights some of the bees’ favourite forage, from the iconic Agapanthus to the South African Protea. You’ll also see our Scilly bee hives and learn more about the Scillonian Bee Project – led by Jilly, which aims to secure a sustainable future for our near-native honey bee.
Your tour will finish with a taste of Tresco honey and the opportunity to learn more in a Q&A session with Jilly.
