Storm Goretti: A Walk Through Recovery
Storm Goretti felled around 500 trees across the island, changing our landscape quite literally overnight - but also opening an opportunity to replant for the future.
Wednesdays at 2pm
Meet outside the Garden Cafe & History Room
Approximately 1 hour
Each Wednesday, join our Land Management team for a gentle walk from the Abbey Garden Café along Abbey Drive. It’s a chance to see the landscape in transition, and to hear the story of the storm and its aftermath from those closest to it.
Along the way, we’ll share the impact of Goretti, the careful work already underway to clear and restore, and our longer-term plans for replanting and renewal.
The walk is usually led by our Head of Estate, Alasdair Moore, whose deep knowledge of the island brings a thoughtful, grounded perspective - though you may occasionally be guided by another member of the team.
An informal, open invitation: a moment to pause, to ask questions, and to understand how this much-loved landscape is being shaped for the future.
Please note: if the walk needs to be cancelled for any reason, a notice will be posted outside Tresco Stores on the morning. We recommend checking there, or with the Island Office, before making a special journey to the Garden.
