Bryher Shipwreck Walks
Reimagine the historic wrecks surrounding the island of Bryher with a guided walk led by local researcher Kate Hale

Hop on the Firethorn to Bryher and join local researcher Kate Hale on an immersive walk around Bryher to uncover the secrets that lie hidden in the sea. Previously Curator of the Isles of Scilly Museum, Kate is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject of shipwrecks and she will relay the sad, dramatic and heroic stories of some of the most tragic.
Meeting at Hell Bay Hotel, Kate will take you on a tour of the rugged coastline and transport back in time.
Kate offers walks on Wednesdays throughout the season at 11:00 and she will be on Bryher on the following dates in 2026:
March: Wednesday 25th March - please note that this walk will meet at Bryher church whilst Hell Bay Hotel is closed
April: Wednesday 8th April & Wednesday 22nd April
June: Wednesday 10th June & Wednesday 24th June
July: Wednesday 8th July & Wednesday 22nd July
August: Wednesday 5th August
Walks depart from Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher and cost £20 per walk.
Please pre-book your place through the Island Office or Hell Bay Hotel reception, as spaces are limited. Payable by CASH to Kate directly on the day.
Please be aware that walks cover steep, rocky and uneven ground so please wear suitable footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing. We also recommend bringing a packed lunch or popping into Hell Bay Hotel for coffee and cake beforehand (or lunch afterwards in the summer months when service continues until 2:30pm).
