Deckhand
We’re looking for a personable, hard-working & confident deckhand for our passenger vessels, helping to provide vital boating services between the islands for residents and visitors.
Department: Tresco Boat Services
Reporting to: Head Skipper
Salary: From £12.75 per hour, dependent on experience
Hours: 40-48 hours, with 2 days off per week
Contract Length: Seasonal, March - October (dates can be flexible)
The Role
As part of our boats team, you will be responsible for assisting passengers on and off vessels in a safe and controlled manner, as well as loading and unloading luggage multiple times a day.
You will be happy in a customer-facing role, selling tickets, collecting fares, and handling money.
Attention to detail will be required, with adherence to all relevant Health and Safety regulations, as well as maintaining a clean and tidy vessel for passengers.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Confident and able to give clear instructions
- Able to work under pressure
- Happy to work outdoors and in all weather
- Ability to lift luggage weighing up to 20kg
- Have good communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Willing to undertake a DBS check
- Able to work with honesty and integrity
- Willing to work a rota pattern which in summer includes early starts, late finishes & weekends
- Maintain and clean and tidy appearance
