Hell Bay Hotel Wins AA Inspectors’ Choice Award

Bryher's Hell Bay Hotel, owned by Tresco Estate, has been recognised as one of Britain's finest hotels at this year's AA Awards.

Hell Bay received the highly contended Red Star Award at an award ceremony on 24th September. The property is one of just eight hotels across the UK to receive the award this year.

The award makes Hell Bay the AA's highest rated hotel in the Isles of Scilly and the only hotel in Cornwall to receive four Red Stars at this year's awards.

The AA Awards are considered the industry’s gold standard. Each year the best hotels within each star rating are selected by AA inspectors to receive the Red Star Award. The chosen hotels are known as ‘Inspectors’ Choice’ hotels and are recognised to be the best in the British Isles.

The elegant New England-style oasis and England’s most westerly hotel was assessed on a variety of considerations: from smartly presented and well-trained staff to the quality of the accommodation and public areas and facilities.

Philip Callan, manager at Hell Bay Hotel, said: “It is an enormous honour to receive the AA Red Star award – it truly is a testament to the whole team, here at Hell Bay, who work tirelessly to ensure guests of the hotel experience seamless, attentive service while staying on the peaceful and memorable island of Bryher.”

Offering 25 beautifully appointed suites, Hell Bay Hotel held a Four Star AA Hotel rating prior to this new accolade, as well as a 3 AA Rosette rating for the hotel’s superior food offering.

The Red Star Award also follows hot on the heels of the hotel’s success earlier in year at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards (February 2018) in which Hell Bay Hotel achieved Gold status within the Small/Boutique Hotel of the Year category.

There are just 68 hotels in the UK that hold Four Red Stars and 58 that hold Five Red Stars, including The Savoy Hotel and The Ritz in London.
