By Sea
Sail to the Isles of Scilly aboard Scillonian III from Penzance Harbour and enjoy a memorable sea voyage to the islands. From St Mary’s, Tresco is just a short onward boat transfer away.
The crossing to St Mary’s takes approximately 2 hours 45 minutes, offering a spectacular perspective on some of Cornwall’s most iconic coastline.
Scillonian III operates from mid-March to early November, sailing daily during peak season and on a slightly reduced schedule in early spring and late autumn. Sunday sailings are available during the school summer holidays only.
Please note, Scillonian III is a passenger ferry - cars cannot be taken to the islands. Secure parking is available in Penzance with Scilly Parking, Isles of Scilly Parking or Scillonian Park & Ride, all offering convenient shuttle transfers to and from the quay.
Transfers to Tresco
Before boarding at Penzance Quay, please attach a blue Tresco luggage label to every item of luggage. You should also clearly label each bag with your name and accommodation details.
Shortly before arriving at St Mary’s, listen for the announcement confirming the departure time of the next Tresco Boat Services crossing (this will also be displayed on the quay and on the Tresco Boats page the day before you travel). You'll usually travel to Tresco aboard the blue ferry Firethorn, typically around 30 minutes after Scillonian docks. Tickets are payable onboard by cash or card.
If you’ve used blue Tresco luggage labels, your bags will be transferred automatically to Firethorn. Please note that you must travel on the same boat as your luggage.
On arrival at Tresco, our complimentary electric shuttle will take you to your accommodation - just remember to point out your bags to the driver.
Please note: It’s essential that you share your full travel itinerary with us in advance so we can arrange your transfer to your accommodation. We don’t automatically receive these details from your travel provider, so without them, we’re unable to schedule your transfer.
