Abalone

Abalone is a cottage made for gathering. Sleeping up to ten guests, with generous living spaces and a collection of terraces and balconies, it has a wonderful sense of occasion from the moment you arrive.

The Sea Garden indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna are just footsteps away, while The Ruin Beach Café, Ravens Porth and the paths around Old Grimsby are all close enough to shape the rhythm of each day.

Inside, Abalone’s upside-down layout makes the most of its coastal setting. The spacious living room is arranged around the view, with deep, comfortable sofas, a log burner and doors opening onto a sunny terrace above the water.

Upstairs, the kitchen and dining room form the sociable heart of the cottage, with Ravens Porth framed on one side and Men-a-Vaur on the other. From here, doors lead directly onto a generous outdoor dining terrace – the perfect setting for long, leisurely meals in the island air.

The bedrooms extend in both directions from this central space, creating a natural sense of flow while offering plenty of privacy. The master bedroom is a particular highlight, with its own balcony and an expansive dual-aspect bathroom, where even the bath enjoys sweeping ocean views.

A second bedroom opens onto a sheltered rear terrace, wrapped in subtropical planting and furnished with a table and chairs. Three further bedrooms, together with a double sofa bed available on request, provide flexible accommodation for families or groups of friends. Two ensuite bathrooms and a further family bathroom make the cottage especially well suited to larger parties.

Outside, there is a space for every part of the day: morning coffee on the principal bedroom balcony, quiet shade among the planting, lazy afternoons on the sun terrace and long suppers overlooking Old Grimsby as the evening light softens.

Find a less-frequented Tresco outlook by following the ‘secret’ path between the cottage and the indoor pool - Merchant’s Point provides a fantastic vista along the north-east coast and out across St. Martin’s and a scattering of islets in between.
