Kittiwake

Begin the day with a barefoot paddle before breakfast, wander back up for coffee on the deck, then let the tide decide the shape of things from there. From its west coast setting, Kittiwake looks across Tresco Channel towards the rugged outline of Bryher — a view that shifts beautifully with the weather, light and movement of the water.

Inside, Kittiwake combines cosy cottage character with a bright, beach-house feel. The kitchen sits at the heart of the ground floor, with a large dining table and bench seating made for big breakfasts, packing beach picnics, and relaxed suppers after a day outdoors. Two bedrooms and a bathroom are tucked away off the entrance hall, giving the layout a practical ease for families or friends sharing.

Upstairs, the mezzanine lounge is the real surprise: generous, airy and full of character, with high ceilings, exposed beams and double patio doors opening towards the view. It is a room made for gathering - sandy children on sofas, evenings by the log burner, or quiet moments looking out across the channel as the light settles over Bryher.

A further staircase leads to two more bedrooms and a bathroom, giving Kittiwake four bedrooms in total. Zip-linked beds can be arranged as superking or twin by prior request, while three bathrooms, including two en-suites, keep the cottage comfortable and practical for larger groups.

Outside, the decking makes the most of the cottage’s remarkable position, with sea air, channel views and Farm Beach just below. Tresco Stores, the Spa, outdoor pool and Flying Boat Café & Deli are all close by too, so the everyday pleasures of island life are never far away.
