The Ruin Beach Café

At the heart of The Ruin is our wood-fired oven, fuelled with island-grown wood and bringing warmth and depth to dishes across the menu. 

Expect hand-stretched pizzas, alongside meats, fish and vegetables cooked over flame, with sharing plates made for relaxed meals with family and friends.

Drop in for morning coffee and pastries, linger over a beachfront lunch while the children play on the white sands below, or settle in for sundowners and supper as the light fades across Raven’s Porth. 

Seasonal ingredients, bright coastal flavours and one of the island’s loveliest sea views make The Ruin an easy place to spend a little longer than planned.

The restaurant takes its name from the remains of a smuggler’s cottage, still woven into the terrace above the beach. Next door, the old Coastguard boathouse - now Watch House cottage - offers another glimpse into the colourful and sometimes precarious past of this beautiful stretch of coastline.

We highly recommend booking a table for lunch or dinner at The Ruin, especially during busy periods.

Please note that advance bookings are available for indoor seating only. If the weather’s good, we usually have plenty of space outside for walk-ins - perfect for a more spontaneous visit.
