The Cottage
At the heart of the cottage is its long, open-plan living space - a beautifully sociable room where kitchen, dining and sitting areas flow together beneath the changing island light. The room draws you naturally towards the wide picture windows at the far end, where the views open out across Old Grimsby and the sea beyond. It is a space made for gathering: slow breakfasts with the morning light on the water, long suppers after beach days, or evenings by the log burner as the sky shifts over Blockhouse Castle.
This is a cottage for easy island days. The Ruin Beach Café, Hut 62 Boat Hire and indoor pool are all just a stone’s throw away, with the tennis court quite literally on the doorstep. Wander across the lawn to Tresco’s crab seats for a quiet moment above the harbour, slip down to the beach for a swim, or follow the coast path north towards Blockhouse Castle and the wilder edges of the island.
Driftwood sleeps up to eight, with three double or twin bedrooms and a separate TV room with double sofa bed available on request. The master bedroom enjoys sea views, giving you that first glimpse of the water before the day properly begins. Flexible zip-linked beds can be arranged as superking or twin by prior request, while an ensuite bathroom and separate shower room make the layout practical for families or friends sharing.
Set among the colourful planting of the Sea Garden Cottages, Driftwood feels sociable, comfortable and wonderfully close to everything that makes Old Grimsby so loved - sea, sand, boats, food, gardens and the gentle rhythm of life by the water.

Facilities
Our cottages are well-equipped with a comprehensive inventory, which includes kitchen appliances and equipment, bathrobes, hair dryers, and an outdoor BBQ with tools. Bathrooms come complete with 100 Acres shampoo, body wash and hand soap.
This property comes equipped with a dishwasher. There is no washing machine at the property, however laundry facilities are available centrally with a small cost payable per load.
Very well equipped and beautifully decorated and furnished. Love the views, the gardens and the privacy. Very comfortable. Well positioned for walks to the Ruin Beach Café. Having the swimming pool next door is another bonus.

The cottage is set amongst an array of colourful blooms in our Sea Gardens, at Old Grimsby. Stroll across the lawn to Tresco’s iconic crab seats and spend a tranquil afternoon watching the waters of Old Grimsby harbour.
A sunny lunch on the Ruin Beach Café terrace is a must – the seafood sharing platter is exquisite!
