Whilst every month on Tresco brings with it different delights, there are annual moments that stick in our minds and many of those take place in May. The island comes alive with colour, there is warmth in the air, evening boating begins as the nights are long, and the buzz and song of insects and birds hangs in the air.
May is also a time of great activity on the islands with plenty in the way of events so, if sitting back and relaxing isn't your thing, there's lots of activities to get stuck into too.
This May in particular, you can enjoy a range of talks and tours from our local experts, immersive island events across all five islands as part of Creative Scilly, the chance to walk between Tresco and Bryher thanks to big spring tides and all our normal fixtures from World Pilot Gig Championships to daily yoga and everything in between.

Nestled amidst New Grimsby and boasting sea views of the harbour, Bryher and Samson, Cobblers is a wonderful cottage, perfect for spring time island exploration. With the north end on your doorstep as well as The New Inn and the Island Spa, you are ideally placed for morning rambles or alfresco pub lunches - not forgetting swims either in the sea or the pool!
If you are after ocean views and the sound of waves hitting the shore, look no further than Lobster. Located right at the edge of the sea gardens, you can enter another world entirely as you sit back and relax - either in the peace of your cottage or the tranquility of the spa right on your doorstep. Morning coffees at the Ruin are a must and adventures to the gardens are all the better for having to journey from one end of the island to the other.
Sitting above all other property on Tresco and with sweeping country and distant sea and island views, Dolphin House is rather special. Surrounded by a lush garden that sings in May, this cottage is a home away from home. Light, airy and perfect for two or ten, your days can be filled with intrepid archipelago wanderings but can just as easily be taken up by strolls about the garden, naps in the sun and meals under the clear starry night sky.
Located along the seafront at Farm Beach, Sunbeam is a May bolthole for everyone. With one of the best sea swimming spots on your doorstep as well as the Flying Boat Cafe, Island spa and Stores next door, this cottage services both the intrepid traveller and those more akin to lying back and soaking up the sun.
