Description

St Agnes' Wingletang Downs are named after the 'Whins' of gorse and 'Tangs' of kelp that are found there. The team at Westward wanted to capture the amazing aroma of the gorse in the glorious Scilly sunshine.

To do this, gorse blossom is collected on a sunny spring morning and distilled as a single botanical in a vacuum. This ensures the distinctive flavour is maintained even when working at low temperatures essential for the distilling process.

Green, nutty notes come through from the gorse blending perfectly with the spiciness of our other botanicals. This is a gin that really stands out and is equally as good straight up with some ice as with a quality tonic.

About Westward Farm

Island-based producers, the Hicks family of Westward Farm, have been farming on St. Agnes for centuries. Nowadays, the family has turned its industry and innovation to a host of carefully crafted island produce.

Amongst their ventures is a tiny distillery, based on the farm and producing very special small batch gins. These gins feature botanicals grown on the farm, and very occasionally sourced from elsewhere on the islands, as is the case with the Tresco Abbey Garden gin.

Alongside the distillery, Westward Farm is also the home to the ’28 miles’ range of Scilly soap and toiletries, and a delicious range of apple juice and cyder made using home-grown apples.
