Maiden Bower

Recently renovated and redecorated, the cottage feels bright, comfortable and generous  a- relaxed island home for families or friends who want space to gather, room to spread out and the beach almost at the garden gate. Open the gate and within a few steps you can be wandering barefoot across the soft white sands of Farm Beach, with the tide, channel and neighbouring islands shaping the rhythm of the day.

Inside, Maiden Bower has an easy, sociable feel. The open-plan living space brings kitchen, dining and sitting areas together, creating a welcoming heart to the cottage for slow breakfasts, beach-day suppers and evenings by the log burner when the air turns cooler. Light moves through the rooms gently, while the cottage’s granite character keeps it rooted in its dune-edge setting.

The cottage sleeps eight across four bedrooms, including a bunk room that works especially well for children. Zip-linked beds in the master, second and third bedrooms can be arranged as superking or twin by prior request, giving the layout useful flexibility for families or larger groups.

Outside, the garden wraps around the cottage with a large lawn and patio space arranged to make the most of the sea views. There is room here for barbecues after the beach, children playing on the grass, quiet coffee in the morning sun, or simply sitting back as the light shifts over Tresco Channel.

As evening falls, Maiden Bower reveals one of its loveliest moments: stepping out into the garden after dark, looking up to clear island skies, and watching the distant flash of Bishop Rock Lighthouse beyond the sleeping islands.
