Tresco’s Summer Seven
This summer, your island paradise may be closer than you think. Take a short flight across to Tresco and try these seven suggestions for a spellbinding Scilly summer. With limited availability in our smaller properties, a romantic couples’ escape awaits on this subtropical idyll.
1. Cocktail o’clock
Think sophisticated sundowners and peachy island sunsets. This summer, the Flying Boat has introduced a delectable cocktail menu featuring drinks inspired by our world-famous Abbey Garden. Sip on a Rosehip Cup featuring our exclusive Tresco gin, or toast holiday moments with a classic Aperol Spritz.
2. Island hopping
Hire kayaks or SUPs from the sailing school and set off from Tresco’s gorgeous eastern coast. Spend a day amongst turquoise shallows discovering the scattered islets between Tresco and neighbouring St. Martin’s. The island of Tean has a tempting natural plunge pool between rocky outcrops – an irresistible wild-swimming spot.
3. Picnic pursuits
Our ultimate picnic spot is King Charles castle – worth the walk, this breathtaking vantage point overlooks the Tresco channel, dotted with visiting yachts during the summer months. Take a pit stop here during a coastal stomp, or for something really special spend an evening here watching a Tresco dusk descend. Our picnic essentials include a loaf of freshly-baked sourdough, Cornish cheese, salami and olives, and a bottle of fizz – all this and plenty more stocked at Tresco Stores.
4. Dark skies
The Scilly archipelago is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Zone – the lack of light pollution across the islands makes for epic night skies. Take a blanket and a thermos to Blockhouse Castle or Cuckoo Rock and marvel at the skyward sights.
5. Supper club
Cross the water for dinner – evening boating to neighbouring Bryher takes place multiple times a week during the summer months. We love the Crab Shack – the freshest local crab served in Portuguese cataplanas, you’ll be elbows deep in no time.
6. Soothing self-care
Add an extra level of relaxation to your island escape with a session in the Tresco Island Spa. Blissful treatments using natural ila products and a calming indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room provide a rejuvenating recipe for self-care.
7. Coastal culture
Throughout July and August, our charming beachside gallery changes its exhibition every ten days. Attend an opening evening and enjoy wine and canapés while viewing the new collection.
