Tresco accommodation praised by Visit England

The Sea Garden and Flying Boat cottages retained their Five Star Gold Award ratings, whilst The New Inn retained its Four Star Silver Award score.

The Visit England Assessments rate services and facilities, inspecting every aspect of the accommodation, from the efficiency of the booking process to the level of service.

Tom Matthews, Head of Marketing on Tresco Island, said: “We are immensely proud to retain our outstanding Visit England ratings. The scheme recognises excellence in accommodation, graded at a national level.

“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff – and the immense pride they take in the whole island – that we have once again been recognised as among the best accommodation available in the country.”

Across all of Tresco’s accommodation, the inspector commented on the exceptional standards of housekeeping, the personal service enjoyed by guests on arrival, the quality of furnishings and artwork throughout the accommodation, and the excellent facilities available for guests across the island, from restaurants to the Island Spa.

The Sea Garden Cottages, which retained their Five Star Gold Award, were lauded for their “wonderful coastal location and sea views” and direct beach access, as well as the luxurious standard of accommodation. The Sea Garden Cottages sit on Tresco’s east coast with panoramic views across Old Grimsby Harbour to the uninhabited Eastern Isles, Round Island and St Martin’s beyond.

The beachfront Flying Boat Cottages, on Tresco’s western coast, also retained their Five Star Gold Award and were again praised for their exceptional beachfront location, accommodation quality and breathtaking sea views.

Tresco’s New Inn retained its Four Star Silver Award, as well as the coveted Breakfast Award, recognising the quality of the inn’s morning offering. Inspectors praised the ongoing programme of redecoration and modernisation across the inn, from public areas to bedrooms.

The success in the Visit England Awards is the latest in a string of successes for Tresco Estate. Bryher’s Hell Bay Hotel recently won gold at the South West Tourism Awards and in the autumn won gold for the fifth consecutive year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Tresco’s Ruin Beach Café recently became the third Tresco Estate business to be awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence, alongside The New Inn and Hell Bay Hotel.
