New Coronavirus Restrictions – Updated 13th September 2020
We know how important your holiday is to you; chances are you’ve been looking forward to it more than ever this year.
We also know how important it is that we all do the right thing to help keep everyone safe. That’s why we’re asking all guests to comply with the new Coronavirus restrictions that come into effect in England from Monday 14th September.
These new restrictions mean you won’t be able to gather in groups of more than 6 people indoors or outdoors. As much as we like to think of Tresco as somewhere else altogether, the same laws do apply here as elsewhere.
From Monday 14th September, bookings will be essential in all our restaurants, and all tables will be limited to a maximum of six people. We’ll also still be asking for contact details for a member of your party so we can assist NHS Test and Trace if needs be.
If you’re staying in holiday accommodation, you are responsible for adhering to the new restrictions: “You should not go on holiday in England with people you do not live with (or who are not in your support bubble) in a group larger than 6 people. Doing so will be against the law. This rule will not apply to individual households or support bubbles of more than 6 who will still be able to gather together.”

To date, the Isles of Scilly has not experienced any confirmed cases of Coronavirus. Despite this, we’re not complacent and we hope that, with our rigorous processes and your support, we can keep our guests, team and wider island community safe. Thank you for your understanding.

Before you travel to Tresco, we would ask that you read the information on this page carefully. It contains important information on what we’re doing to keep everyone safe, and the changes you can expect on the island this year.
Inevitably, these measures will mean some changes to the usual Tresco experience, but we will always stay true to the things that make this place unique. Peace and tranquillity. Endless seascapes and deserted landscapes. Warm welcomes. Space and time to be. These are the things that make Tresco special; the things we will all value even more now; the things that will never change.

Please keep the islands safe and do not travel to Scilly if you have displayed symptoms of Coronavirus in the last 10 days, share a household with anyone that has had symptoms within the 14 days, or have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace. Please adhere to guidance on local lockdowns and travelling to the UK from abroad.
It seems we must forego the usual handshake or hug, but you’ll still receive the same warm welcome throughout your journey.
Face coverings are mandatory in all terminals and on all transport to and around the islands, including Penzance Helicopters, Skybus, Scillonian, Tresco Boats and the Tresco Shuttle. Each of the travel operators has put in place their own detailed guidance on their own websites. Please ensure you can complete your entire journey without support, as staff will be unable to provide assistance embarking and disembarking transport and you may need to handle your own luggage.
We’ve updated our practices and introduced new safety measures on the island to meet the Visit England 'We're Good to Go' COVID-secure scheme.
You will find plentiful supplies of soap and hand sanitiser in all public areas (please remember to bring your own sanitiser for use when out and about). Signage reminds guests to maintain social distancing and we're taking care to carefully manage the number of people in busy public areas.
Anna and her Housekeeping team have been hard at work, enhancing their already rigorous cleaning regimes in all of our accommodation and public areas. They use a high-performance sanitiser and are paying particular attention to high touch areas like door handles, light switches and soft furnishings. We’ve also introduced electrostatic sprayers (“foggers”) to ensure even hard-to-reach areas are sanitised effectively.
Our Front Office team is available by phone for help throughout your stay, and on departure, we’ll email your bill so you can settle up online or by phone. We’re encouraging the use of account or contactless payments throughout your stay.
The New Inn is open throughout the day for drinks, lunch and dinner, as well as takeaway Fish & Chips each evening. Bookings are essential for dining - please call 01720 423006. Due to restrictions around social distancing, we would recommend those wishing to pop in for a drink avoid meal service times when it may not be possible to seat you.
The Ruin Beach Café is open daily for lunch and dinner (bookings essential - please call 01720 424849). The Beach Hut next door is open from 9am - 5pm each day for takeaway morning croissants, ice creams, coffees, and a selection of drinks, wine and beers
If you’re meandering around Tresco's subtropical Abbey Garden, you can enjoy a coffee, cake or light lunch at The Garden Café.
Please note that in line with the new restrictions in place from Monday 14th September, the maximum size of any table in any of our restraurants will be six people.
Tresco Stores has launched a new online shop, so you can now pre-order your groceries ahead of your stay, or do a top-up shop on-island, with free delivery to your accommodation. We strongly recommend placing an order ready for your arrival, as the shop is currently operating limited hours, so may be closed when you arrive. Please remember a face covering is now essential in-store.
The Flying Boat Restaurant remains closed. While there is no Tresco Market this year, you can still order fresh fish and shellfish for daily delivery to Tresco from Bryher's Island Fish. Hell Bay Hotel is open to residents only, and The Crab Shack just wouldn't be the same with social distancing, so remains closed.

Tresco Abbey Garden and its Visitor Centre and Café is open every day, with 17 acres of terraces, borders, meandering pathways and lawns to explore.
Relax in our indoor and outdoor pools, or enjoy a luxurious ila spa treatment at Tresco Island Spa. Our Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym facilities remain closed. Changing facilities are unavailable, so guests are requested to change at their accommodation and use the robes and towels provided.
Our Outdoor Yoga or Meditation practise gives you time to be, relaxing among stunning natural settings across the island, while our new Flying Boat Studio provides a serene shelter from the elements when needed.

What if I develop symptoms or have to self-isolate before I travel?Open
Please do not travel to Tresco if you:
Are experiencing Coronavirus symptoms or have in the last 7 days
Share a household with someone who has had Coronavirus symptoms in the last 14 days
Have been advised to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace
Please contact us as soon as possible to advise us that you are unable to travel. We will attempt to re-sell your accommodation where possible, but you should also speak to your travel insurer.
Can I share a holiday cottage with friends or family?Open
We ask that you familiarise yourself with, and follow, the latest government guidance on contact with those outside your household, including social bubbles. Please take special notice of the Coronavirus restrictions effective from 14th September 2020 which mean you won’t be able to gather in groups of more than 6 people indoors or outdoors.

If you find that your booking does not follow the new restrictions, our standard terms and conditions do apply, as the accommodation is still available.
However, please do get in touch as we may be able to re-let your accommodation and, if successful, we will be happy to waive the usual £50 administration fee. Alternatively, we will be happy to provide any documentation to support a claim under your travel insurance.
What happens if I develop symptoms of Coronavirus while I’m on the island?Open
If you have severe symptoms or require other medical help, dial 111 or 999
The Isles of Scilly Local Incident Response Team will be in touch to arrange your test and provide support. You will receive a test in your accommodation, and test results usually take around 48 hours to come back.
If you test positive, government advice is to self-isolate at home. As you cannot use public transport, there is an evacuation service in place. This will provide free private transport back to Penzance for a visitor (and their holiday party) who tests positive during their stay or is advised to self-isolate having been contacted by NHS Test and Trace. This transport will be by boat or helicopter. The service is funded by a partnership between the Council of the Isles of Scilly, Tresco Estate and the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and there is no charge to the guest for using this service.
