A passion for colour has always been central to my creative practice. The colour of skyscapes, seascapes and landscapes, form the subjects of my paintings, in their vastness and intimacies with all their sensations of changing light and twilight. This series of paintings follow a visit to Tresco last summer, when I walked along a path towards Pentle bay where Agapanthus grow wild, on a scale I have never seen before. The flowers were like intense blue orbs floating in a mist of grass. I stayed and painted in this magical place accompanied by gentle sounds of the sea and birdsong. |
