Mainland Departure Points for Tresco

Tresco can be reached from the British mainland by helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft or ship. The scheduled helicopter service flies direct to both Tresco and St Mary's: the other services go to St Mary's only, with a launch connection. Advance booking is essential.

If travelling by road, head for Penzance using the M5 or A38, then the A30. The heliport and quay are clearly signposted and have ample parking.

Penzance is also the nearest station. If travelling by rail we suggest you make your flight reservations to synchronise with train arrival times. A combined rail/helicopter ticket can be purchased from First Great Western on 0845 601 0573

We advise guests to take the scheduled helicopter service direct to Tresco. The flight time from Penzance is only 20 minutes. Alternatively, indirect flights on fixed-wing aircraft can be booked from Bristol, Exeter, Newquay, Southampton and Land's End. The Scillonian III takes just over two-and-a-half hours for the sea-trip from Penzance to St Mary's.

The nearest large airport to the Isles of Scilly is Newquay in Cornwall. You can fly to Newquay from a number of cities in the UK, including London (Gatwick), Manchester and Edinburgh, as well as from Dublin, Cork and Dusseldorf (summer timetable only). The onward flight to the Isles of Scilly takes about 30 minutes and lands on St Mary's. From there a 10-20 minute boat trip will take you to Tresco or Bryher.

Once on Tresco you will taken by tractor-bus to your accommodation or New Grimsby quay - for the boat trip to Bryher, and for the duration of your holiday you will enjoy a car-free lifestyle. The only vehicles on Tresco are those owned by the Tresco Estate which service the accommodation, farms and woodland.
