If you would like to plan a trip to Tresco starting your journey outside the United Kingdom, please give us a call and we can help you plan your holiday. In the meantime, we have a few tips for you below.
The closest large airport to the Isles of Scilly is Newquay in Cornwall. You can fly to Newquay from a number of cities in the UK as well as from Dublin, Cork and Dusseldorf during the summer months. The onward flight to the Isles of Scilly takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can fly from Land’s End, which is only a 15 minute journey.
If you are travelling from London, there is a direct First Great Western service between London and Penzance, including an overnight sleeper. Travel time is approximately five and a half hours. A Skybus shuttle bus will pick you up from outside Penzance railway station to take you to the airport, which is eight miles away. We recommend pre-booking the Skybus shuttle by calling +44 (0)8457 105555. There is also a Europcar hire car drop off/pick up point at Penzance railway station.
In the summer, you can also fly from Exeter airport in Devon, where there are regular flights to many UK and European destinations. The onward flight is about 60 minutes.
All flights land on St Mary's, the commercial hub of the Isles of Scilly. If you have booked accommodation on the island, you will be escorted to the quay and accompanied on the short boat ride to Tresco. If you would prefer to travel by sea, the Scillonian passenger ferry sails from Penzance to St. Mary’s from March until November. Advanced booking of flights and accommodation is essential. We can arrange all your travel from the mainland.
